Uber Eats driver who was ‘caught with £1m price of faux equipment’ denies promoting counterfeits

An Uber Eats ship driver who was caught with greater than £1million price of faux equipment for designer watches has denied promoting counterfeit items, a courtroom heard right now.

Mohammad Zakariya, 22, allegedly bought elements together with straps purporting to be from luxurious manufacturers together with Rolex, Breitling, Tissot, Longines, Orient and Tudor.

He appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ courtroom carrying a black leather-based jacket, an orange t-shirt, and denims.

Zakariya denied possessing and promoting items with a false trademark on the market, between February 2018 and September 2020 and transferring legal property, specifically £142,400 to his father’s checking account between January 2019 and October 2020.

Zakariya instructed the courtroom: ‘I am not responsible as a result of I did not do it.’

Zakariya, of Knowles Street, Gloucester, was launched on unconditional bail forward of a plea

Prosecutor Frances McCormack mentioned: ‘That is now a contested matter as a result of whole worth of the products seized being over £1million.’

In line with the primary cost he possessed items with a false commerce mark on the market on September 2020 at Milton Keynes, ‘with a view to achieve for himself or one other or with intent to trigger loss to a different, and with out the consent of the proprietor, bought items, specifically watch elements and equipment together with straps, bearing, or the packaging of which, bore an indication similar to, or prone to be mistaken for a registered commerce mark, specifically Omega, Orient, Seiko, Rolex, Breitling, Longines, Tudor, Hamilton, Marathon, Mido, IWC, Tissot, Fortis, Rado, Tag Heuer, Jaegar, Titoni, Roger Dubuis, Oris, Panerai, Citizen, Bolido, Enicar, Audemars Piguet, Casio, Bulova, Mortimer, Dalil’.

The second cost alleges he bought items with an indication or packaging bearing an indication similar or prone to be mistaken for registered commerce mark, between 22 February 2018 and 9 September 2020 at Milton Keynes ‘with a view to achieve for your self or one other, or with intent to trigger loss to a different, and with out the consent of the proprietor, bought items, specifically branded watch elements and equipment together with straps, bearing, or the packaging of which bore, an indication similar to, or prone to be mistaken for, a registered trademark, specifically Omega, Orient, Seiko, Rolex, Breitling, Longines, Tudor, Hamilton, Marathon, Mido, IWC, Tissot.’

Zakariya, of Knowles Street, Gloucester, was launched on unconditional bail forward of a plea and trial preparation listening to at Southwark Crown Court docket on 2 February.
