Paradoxically, Maximilian Osinski didn’t imagine that he actually had a shot at touchdown the position of AFC Richmond’s beloved new striker, Zava, on season three of Ted Lasso.
“After I even heard that I is likely to be studying for it, I used to be like, ‘Yeah, okay, it’s Ted Lasso, everybody needs to be on that present,’” Osinski tells Self-importance Honest. “I used to be out to dinner with my in-laws, and my reps referred to as and broke the information, and I couldn’t imagine it. I left the desk to take the decision, I got here again, my mother-in-law, father-in-law, and daughter are sitting there, and I inform them, ‘I received Ted Lasso,’ and my spouse, [Severance star] Dichen [Lachman], begins crying. Slightly too onerous. Like, was it that dangerous? Was I that determined for a job?”
The Brokers of S.H.I.E.L.D. alum made his debut within the second episode of Ted Lasso’s third (and presumably closing) season. After being challenged by Hannah Waddingham’s Rebecca to show his greatness on a staff that actually wants him, he hits the bottom working, offering a spark that has Richmond rising towards the highest of the Premier League standings.
Talking over Zoom from his house in London, Osinski has now totally adopted the official motto of Ted Lasso, as evidenced by the framed “Consider” signal noticed behind him. With Zava placing a chord, we chatted with Osinski about finding out the real-life inspirations for his character, soccer coaching, and becoming a member of his spouse within the Apple TV+ household.

Self-importance Honest: Earlier than you had been solid, what was your relationship to the present?
Maximilian Osinski: By no means actually heard of it. [Pause.] No, are you kidding me?! My spouse and I had been large followers, like everybody else within the States. I knew it had inspiration from Zlatan Ibrahimović and Eric Cantona, so I learn all of the books I might on these two guys—watched interviews, watched documentaries on Premier League soccer. And I began consuming and coaching like an athlete, coached myself in soccer. I didn’t begin getting concepts of what I used to be going to do till I received on set and met Brendan [Hunt] and Jason. I imply, I knew he wasn’t going to be a small half in a single episode, however I didn’t know precisely what that they had in thoughts, so it developed as scripts got here in.
