A father-of-two was stabbed to dying at his village residence after spending Christmas along with his household.

Paul Hanson, 54, suffered a stab wound throughout an incident at a property in West Cowick, Snaith, yesterday night.

‘A girl, aged 53 was arrested on suspicion of homicide and at present stays in police custody while we proceed with traces of enquiry.

‘Paul’s household proceed to be supported by specialist skilled officers and have requested for privateness right now.’

Earlier, Detective Chief Inspector Nicola Burnett added: ‘We perceive that information of a tragic incident reminiscent of this can trigger shock and concern to folks within the village and surrounding areas. 

‘Nevertheless, I want to reassure folks that this was an remoted incident between individuals who had been identified to one another and, as such, there isn’t any wider threat to members of the general public.

‘Officers will stay in West Cowick over the approaching days while we proceed with our investigation, and a scene guard will stay in place.’
