A person has died after falling into the ‘freezing’ River Thames final night time as temperatures reached -3C levels.

The physique of the unidentified man was recovered close to London Bridge round 9.25pm, Met Police have confirmed.

Investigators say the person is believed to have been seen getting into the water earlier and ‘the circumstances of the demise usually are not being handled as suspicious.’

Emergency crews responded to the scene round 5.30pm yesterday after the person was seen getting into the Thames. 

The Met’s Marine Policing Unit, Metropolis of London Police and the RNLI all assisted with the search however had been unable to find the lacking man.
