Permission was granted, with Tyldesley saying his untimely return to the UK by tweeting an image of a glass of crimson wine, passport and boarding move.

‘My eighth World Cup within the job of my goals and the primary time I’ll be house earlier than England!’ he wrote.

The tweet triggered an outpouring of help for Tyldesley, 68, who was stood down as ITV’s primary after fulfilling the function from 1998 to 2020. 

He was changed by Sam Matterface, with the Bury-born commentator dropping to quantity two.

It was anticipated that Tyldesley would have taken the mic for the Morocco versus Portugal last-eight fixture. However Jon Champion took up duties, with Scotland legend Ally McCoist offering color.

Had he remained in Qatar, Tyldesley would have offered highlights package deal commentary for Friday’s Holland versus Argentina sport, proven stay by the BBC, however he declined to take action.

ITV declined to remark.
