They’ve been a standard function amongst fastidiously tended fruit, veg and flower plots on allotments for many years.

However glass greenhouses needs to be banned, in accordance with specialists – in case allotment holders reduce themselves.

Society president Phil Gomersall stated: ‘We would like allotments to be as secure as doable. One of many large points if you go on websites is damaged glass.’ However Professor Stefan Buczacki, ex-chairman of Radio 4’s Gardeners’ Query Time, branded the recommendation ‘totally weird’. He stated: ‘Glass is a a lot better, extra environment friendly materials for greenhouses.’
